Values
Values are a set of guiding principles that describe who we are, what we do, and what matters in our church.
(1 Corinthians 2:2; Galatians 6:14, Colossians 1:15-20; Philippians 2:6-11)
The gospel of Jesus Christ is the power for all that we do at Gospel Hope Church. Jesus and his gospel shape every aspect of our mission. And the gospel of Jesus Christ alone provides the basis for our unity. Therefore, in all that we do, we seek to remove distractions from seeing and savoring Jesus and his gospel. We will make the gospel of Jesus as clear and as compelling as possible, always putting the spotlight on Jesus rather than us so that we are all freshly staggered by what Jesus has done for us.
In short, we measure the quality and character of all we do as a local church family by whether it magnifies Jesus above all. Our ministry is the ministry of magnification — making God’s glory in the person and work of Jesus appear to our eyes and the eyes of the world as big as it really is.
(Matthew 28:18-20, 2 Timothy 2:2)
Multiplication is a norm at Gospel Hope. We make disciples who make disciples who plant churches.
(Acts 2:42-47, Colossians 3; 1 Corinthians 12, Hebrews 10:24-25, Romans 12, John 13:34-35, Ephesians 4:11-16)
As image bearers of God himself, we were created by community and for community. Therefore, it is through spiritually intentional relationships that we grow in maturity (Jesus-likeness). For this reason, Gospel Hope is a church that grows in maturity together.
(Acts 1:8; John 20:21, Matthew 9:35-39; Jeremiah 29:4-7; Matthew 4:19, Mark 3:13-15, Mark 6:6-13)
Calling is not a special experience for a sacred few. It is a basic element of the Christian life. When believers accept Jesus, they accept his call to join him in his mission (Matthew 4:19). The question, then, is not if we are sent on mission, but only where and how. The bottom line is, if the church isn’t sending, it’s ending!
